LNP Arrests Alleged Culprit In Police Academy Shootout–EPS Expresses Condolence To Bereaved Family
The Liberia National Police (LNP) arrested and detained the culprit in the Police Academy shootout during the early morning hours of Monday, July 4, 2022, along with the weapon used in the shooting incident.
A statement from the LNP said the gunman, who has been identified as Patrick Kollie, is an EPS officer assigned with the Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Bill Twehway.
In the shooting incident at the Police Academy intersection in Paynesville, one Valentine T. Johnson was allegedly shot and killed.
The statement from the LNP extolled the Police Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General for the swift containment of the situation and arrest of the perpetrator.

In a related development, the Executive Protection Service (EPS) has extended its sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the late Valentine T. Johnson, who died as a result of a shooting incident involving one of its agents, Patrick Kollie.
“Upon the order of Director Trokon N. Roberts, Agent Patrick Kollie has, with immediate effect, been disrobed and turned over to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for investigation,” the EPS noted in a press release.
