The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Col. Gregory Coleman, has disclosed that they have requested technical support from a foreign government to help with a DNA test to prove the allegation of rape levied against the Deputy Minister of Youth Development, McGill Bryant, and are awaiting their response. According to him, DNA testing remains the only available tool to establish the alleged involvement of suspended Deputy Minister McGill in the case.

Speaking during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 IG Coleman said all methods have so far failed to establish a probable cause linking the accused to the alleged crime.

He said the analysis of available devices showed no evidence linking McGill to any criminal activities, noting that they are proceeding with professionalism and transparency to ensure justice is served without political interference.

According to IG Coleman, key investigative processes have included the gathering of CCTV footage, and the subpoena of the accused’s call logs. “Our findings did not establish any level of link between the victim and the suspect,” he told the public.

The LNP has requested international support to conduct DNA testing analysis abroad, as the current DNA testing machines in Liberia are not in proper working condition, noting that the results of the international DNA analysis will play a decisive role in the case.

“We have requested technical support from a foreign government to help with the DNA process and are awaiting their response. The integrity of this investigation remains our utmost priority,” he said.

Col. Coleman emphasized that while no evidence has been found so far, the LNP remains committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that both the accused and the complainant receive justice in accordance with the law.

The IG said McGill goes to the police headquarters on a daily basis, and that his phone and travel document are in the hands of the police, but they have not found any evidence on his call log and even on the CCTV footage.
