The President of the Liberia Scrap Dealers Association (LSDA), Ayoubah Kamara, has extended congratulations to all Muslims for the observance of the hajj, as he promises to move the institution with an ethical standard.

Speaking from his office at New Georgia Junction over the weekend, the LSDA boss, Ayouba Kamara, appreciated all Liberian Muslims and their counterparts for the courage to diligently observe the hajj festival, which was climaxed by Abraham’s Day.

Applauding his fellow Muslims, Kamara also recognized the significant accomplishments of all Islamic members of the Liberia Scrap Dealers Association during the observance of the hajj.

The LSDA President encouraged everyone to prioritize love for one another, especially in the business arena.

At the same time, he entreated members of the LSDA to abstain from envy and jealousy, thereby standing firm to uphold love, unity and patriotism in order to promote peace within the association.

“Any environment where there is no love, there is always the abstinence of peace,” he stated.

The LSDA president underscored the need for all scrap dealers to remain steadfast and determined in their undertakings, as his leadership remains committed to moving the association to the next level in the scrap sector of the country.

With a firm conviction, he said, the leadership of the LSDA will remain more steadfast towards decentralizing the institution.

Making reference to the association’s profound workings of decentralization, Kamara said he and his team were able to have recently taken a tour in Nimba, Sinoe and Grand Gedeh counties, where the team conferred with scrap workers and assured the Government of Liberia (GoL) that members of the LSDA there are doing extremely well on the job.

Meanwhile, the LSDA official has emphasized the importance for the Government of Liberia (GOL) to work in collaboration with the LSDA to enhance growth, in order to improve the livelihood of the citizenry, especially disadvantaged youths.

Kamara pointed out that the LSDA has short-, medium- and long-term plans to rehabilitate disadvantaged youths, some of whom he said are engaged in picking scraps daily to make ends meet.

As part of his commitment to buttressing government’s effort, Kamara said his institution is working in partnership with ministries and agencies of government, including the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Justice’s Safety Department, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and Ministry of Mines and Energy, as well as the General Service Agency (GSA), National Investment Commission (NIC) and Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC).

Speaking further, Kamara informed the Hot Pepper that his leadership recently met at the Ministry of Public Works, where the team had a fruitful discussion with Minister Roland L. Giddings as regards scrap activities in Liberia.

According to him, during the meeting Minister Giddings said he and his team at Public Works Ministry are more concerned about government’s infrastructure for the good of the public, and craved the LSDA’s help in watching over these developments, thereby preventing unscrupulous individuals bent on extracting government infrastructure.

On the other hand, the LSDA President said he and his team were also privileged to have recently sat with the Ministry of Justice’s Safety Department delegation, as the delegation decried the removal of electric wires from light poles and scraping of other things, such as manhole tops from the streets by hoodlums.
