Following President Joseph Boakai’s State-of-the-Nation address to members of the 55th Legislature, in which he spoke about new approaches in addressing his administration developmental agenda, a diaspora Liberian entrepreneur, Eric Oppong Twum, has commended President Boakai for mentioning the tourism sector in his address.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Africa Union Trading Company in Liberia, he wants Liberia to become a visa-free country.

Twum stated that Liberia’s tourism industry sector needs more attention from the government in order to become more attractive to the public. He is at the same time calling on those spearheading the tourism aspect of the Ministry of Information to be more creative and proactive in the execution of their official duties.

CEO Twum added that if the online visa program is introduced Liberia will have more investors, like countries in the subregion.

“When government gives more attention to the tourism industry, African-Americans will return home and invest in the country,” he stated.

Twum said he wants Liberian tourism hotels, buses, helicopters, boats, among others, operated by the government. He said government should develop all Liberia’s historical sites for tourism purpose. According to him, tourism serves as a gateway to countries’ growth and development.
