The Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), James A.S. Monoh, said he wants quality education in Liberia to be prioritized.

Superintendent Monoh stated that prioritizing quality education is the key to lifting Liberians out of poverty, which should not be taken for granted.

The superintendent made assertion Wednesday when one person was arrested for attempting to burn the MCSS’s central office in Sinkor.

According to him, two persons who had planned to burn the MCSS central office, but the other person is on the run while the officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) are investigating the arrested person at the LNP’s headquarter.

He noted that if Liberians are well educated their living condition will improve substantially in every field of endeavor.

According to him, education plays significant role in transforming the development of a people and nation, and Liberia is no exception.

Superintendent Monoh said the under his administration at the MCSS they are doing everything possible to transform the system through providing quality education to Liberian children.

He explained that the schools of MCSS cannot operate without functional laboratories. He disclosed that there is a container at the Freeport of Monrovia with laboratory materials, and he is seeking means for it to be released from the port to ensure that students of MCSS schools perform well in the West African Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (WASSEC) this year.

He explained that despite his effort to ensure that quality education standards are restored to government school, others in the system are trying to undermine the progress that is on-going in the MCSS.

He pointed out that 18 teachers have been awarded scholarships to India to become specialized in science disciplines.

Superintendent Monoh emphasized that the MCSS will not employ individuals who do not have the basic “C” certificate training to teach in MCSS schools.

He promised that President Joseph Boakai’ s administration will succeed in the education sector, but those who are trying to undermine the progress of the system will not be successful.

He said all accusations made against him on social media and from media institutions are false because he is not corrupt. Superintendent Monoh emphasized that transparency and accountability will be the order of the entity, and not corrupt acts as he is being falsely accused.
