As unity breaks a community’s stagnation yoke and promotes development agenda fulfilment by bringing all hands on deck for fair play, the jubilant leadership and residents of Mid-Du-Port Road Block “A” recently celebrated their homecoming program in grand style.
Mid-Du-Port Block “A” Community, Du-Port Road, has four blocks, with general leadership and chairmen governing the blocks under the supervision of the general chairmanship.
The program, which enthused the community’s residents to march by a marching band from the Baptist Field to the Peaceful Lutheran Church, ended with a football match and refreshment, as a sign to cement unity throughout the community.
The Mid-Du-Port Block “A” community’s leadership includes Ambassador Eddie F. Nimely, Chairman; Elder James Taiwon, Vice Chair for Administration, Howdeh Langford; Vice Chair for Operations, Nelson Ballah; Secretary General, Emmanuel Peter; Youth Chair, Love Kollie; Women Chair; and George L. Taylor, Administrative Assistance.
Myrna Holt-Buseh, eminent resident and pastor of the Peaceful Lutheran Church, mesmerized the community residents, saying the program’s success was an indication of Jesus’ light in the community to promote peace and heal wounds.
“If you don’t have love as community leaders, people will not connect with you,” Pastor Holt-Buseh said, as a caveat to the community leadership and residents.
She defined love by I Corinthians 13:4: “Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not.”
She added that love is not proud and not self-seeking, not easily angered, has no record of evil, but always rejoices with the truth, and urged the leadership to forget the past and promote love. She observed that love covers everything.
The Mid-Du-Port Block “A” community’s general leadership pointed out that the program was a clear indication that unity is in Block “A” of the community, and it should serve as a role model for the other blocks to follow.
“We will get to Block “A” to know how they came out with the idea so that we can extend it to the other blocks,” Patrick Dennis, General Chairman of Mid-Du-Port Road said.
Mid-Du-Port Block “A” Chair Nimely revealed challenges faced during 2025, but lauded the community residents’ courage, support and resilience.
“We lost some of our brothers and sisters, but throughout the Almighty God allowed us to make it, and that is why we are briefing,” Chairman Nimely said in an appreciative tone.
He said 2026 projects are to make the Agape Road pliable, complete the Chris Massaquoi Road construction, that is at 90%, complete the resource center that is under construction, and so on. He thanked the youth chairman and the youthful population for the unity displayed during the program.
Representative Michael M. Thomas allegedly did not send any of his office staff to proxy him, while the rest of the honorees were present, made comments and financial contributions to the community’s wellbeing. Other people, including the youth chair, gave thankful remarks at the end of the program. However, Representative Thomas was honored in absentia; while the Peaceful Lutheran Church, along with five prominence individuals, were also honored.
