During the meeting, Foreign Minister Nyanti formally accepted copies of the letters of credence from Ambassador-Designate Backeus, congratulating him on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Liberia.

Foreign Minister Nyanti highlighted the longstanding and cordial relations between Liberia and Sweden, noting that the two nations share a rich history of cooperation. She expressed Liberia’s commitment to strengthening these bilateral ties, particularly in areas that promote mutual growth and development.

“The Government of Liberia (GOL) looks forward to further deepening our cooperation with Sweden, fostering sustainable partnerships that will contribute to our national development,” Minister Nyanti stated. She also reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ readiness to support Ambassador-Designate Backeus in ensuring a successful and rewarding tenure in Liberia.

In his remarks, Ambassador-Designate Karl Backeus expressed Sweden’s enthusiasm for further enhancing diplomatic ties with Liberia. He emphasized Sweden’s commitment to building on the existing relationship and advancing cooperation across multiple sectors, which would promote mutual understanding and shared prosperity for both nations.

Ambassador Backeus stated, “We are keen on expanding our cooperation with Liberia, ensuring that our bilateral relations reach new heights of collaboration, especially in areas that benefit both countries.”
