Assistant Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has disclosed the establishment of a digital village in Liberia.
Minister Nicholas Johnson stated that the digital village will be established in Foya, Lofa County, to elevate digitalization in Liberia. He said establishing the digital village will go a long way in promoting and advancing technology and digitalization in the country.
Minister Johnson made the disclosure Thursday when he was honored by the Excellent Media Incorporated as the outstanding Assistant Minister of the year 2025. The occasion was held at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in Monrovia.
According to him, countries around the world are rapidly advancing as a result of technology and digitalization, and Liberia cannot afford to remain behind in the digital world.
He emphasized the need to implement the digitalization payment platform for smooth business transaction among Liberians and others.
Minister Johnson explained that Liberia can accelerate improvements in the various sectors of government, such as agriculture, education, health and others, if digital technology is implemented in these sectors.
He pointed out that in the middle of this year Liberia will be implementing the West Africa Reginal Digital Integration Project Liberia in elevating digitalization in the nation.
He asserted that the project will recruit competent and qualified young Liberians to actualize the vision of promoting and advancing technology and digitalization in Liberia.
Minister Johnson emphasized that technology in the digital world is a system that can prevent corruption, noting that the system can be audited.
He maintained that Liberians should embrace technology in the digital world. According to him, digitalization is everything with regard to the function of things in the world.
The honoring ceremony was graced by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sekou Kromah, Deputy Minister for Administration, Augustine Soway Tarpeh, Deputy Minister for Operation, Jeneba Paasewe, Deputy Minister for Technical Services, S. Mohammed Massaley, among others.
