The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL)is calling on the Joseph N. Boakai administration to ratify the agreement with the management of Global Tracking and Maritime Solution (GTMS), which is entering into the second quarter of a fifteen-year term. NACSUL’s call was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Speaking to newsmen, the President of NACSUL, Amos B.S. Kanneh, said GTMS’s five years operation in the country has proved beneficial to the business community and the revenue generation of the government. According to him, GTMS’ tracking system has drastically minimized the issue of missing containers and improved service delivery.
Kanneh underscored that GTMS has been efficient inexpediting and facilitating trade in all aspect of sea andland freight cargo, noting that they have been committed in providing a one-stop global logistics management hub which provides a comprehensive CTN/ECTN/ENS/BECE Certificates, vessel routing, value and duty assessment and port terminal handling advises.
He said, unlike in the past when, due to poor handling of shipping manifest and related information which led to losses and increase in tracking cost as well as shipperspreference for using alternative ports of entry from neighboring countries, the presence of GTMS in Liberia, headed by Aminata Bangura, has significantly reduced these threats to shipping activities in Liberia, thus ensuring maximum security for public shipping activities and related information.
The NACSUL boss named some GTMS services as real-time tracking, provision of professional warehousing activities, high security standards for cargoes, 24/7 hoursupport and fast and efficient delivery.
He emphasized the business climate could not have been favorable without the services of the entity.
In addition to the company’s professional services, Kanneh noted that the company has been committed to its corporate social responsibility to the communities and Liberia at large. He said the company has also employed several Liberians to senior managerial positions in its five years of operation in the country.
He added that ratify GTMS’ agreement for the second quarter is in the best interest of the country, and will ensure a smooth shipping service.
He then called on the government to ensure that GTMS is protected and provided a space to continue its operation in helping to strengthen the shipping industry.
The civil society group applauded the management of GTMS and implored them to continue their good work, in the interest of the country and its citizenry.
