The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has welcomed the nomination of former Grand Kru County Representative and Chairman on Executive in the 53rd National Legislature, G. Blamo Wesseh, as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.

Wesseh has been Acting in the position since the resignation of former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel Falo McGill, following his designation by the United States government for alleged public Corruption.

NACSUL, in a press statement released at the weekend, also commended President George Manneh Weah for his farsightedness to appoint Wesseh as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, adding that the nominee has the requisite credentials and experience to adequately perform the task ahead.

NACSUL President, Amos B.S. Kanneh, recounted that his institution has followed the nominee as far back as 2005 when he was first elected by the people of Grand Kru County to the House of Representatives and subsequently re-elected in 2011 based on his splendid performance at the National Legislature.

President Kanneh said based on Wesseh’s broader insight on legislative issues, he was trusted by his astute colleagues and got elected as Chairman on the House of Representatives’ Committee on Executive, a position he served until 2017 when he decided to give others the chance and not to contest for the third term.

He also noted that based on Wesseh’s enormous work in ensuring that the Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change now President of Liberia, George M. Weah, got overwhelmingly elected by the Liberian people in 2017, G. Blamo Wesseh was appointed by the President as Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, a position he served until his recent nomination by the President.

According to Kanneh, the nominee, who is also the Bishop of the Reformed Cathedral of Hope Church, Zubah Town, Paynesville, is not only a God-fearing individual but a man with outstanding moral rectitude and atrusted person whom the President of Liberia can count on to serve as his Minister of State for Presidential Affairs and his Chief of Office Staff.

He disclosed that he has explicit confidence in the nominee’s ability to demonstrate diligence, honesty and commitment to duty if confirmed by the Liberian Senate.

Meanwhile, the National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) is at the same time appealing to the wisdom of members of the Liberian Senate, who are often referred to as “House of Elders”, to waste no time in confirming this astute statesman to immediately commence the work of the Liberian people.

However, NACSUL’s President pointed out that while he welcomes and extols the Liberian Leader for such a decision to appoint Wesseh to the top position, as watchdog of the Liberian society the Independent Civil Society Union will closely follow and monitor the appointee’s performance in the office of the President while discharging his duty.
