The management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has categorically refuted recent allegations of corruption, nepotism, illegal employment, intimidation and dismissal circulating in some public and media spaces.

The NLA said it finds it necessary to respond comprehensively to these claims and set the record straight for the benefit of the general public and all stakeholders.

“These claims are false, misleading, and intended to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of the authority and its Director General, Hon. Peter L. Solo,” the NLA said in a press release.

“The NLA wishes to make it unequivocally clear that its recruitment, operation and overall management are guided by established policies, procedures and laws of the Republic of Liberia. At no time has the authority engaged in favoritism, political interference, or family-based considerations in its employment or decision-making processes,” the NLA maintained.

“As a public institution mandated to oversee the development and management of gaming and gambling activities across the country, the NLA operates under strict regulatory frameworks and adheres to principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.

“We take pride in maintaining public trust and ensuring that all stakeholders and/or employees of the NLA are treated fairly and equally.”

According to the release, the authority maintains a professional and inclusive working environment. “Allegations of intimidation or victimization of staff are taken seriously and are thoroughly investigated through established internal mechanisms,” the gaming regulatory said.

“While the NLA respects the role of the media in promoting accountability and transparency, we are concerned about the publication of unverified claims without recourse to the authority for clarification. We encourage responsible journalism that upholds the principles of fairness, accuracy, and balance.

“Under the current administration, there has been no dismissal or demotion of any employee. The administration continues to demonstrate procedural approaches to employ volunteers who have sacrificed over the years and elevating the employment statuses of potential and qualified staff.

“The Authority further cautions the public and stakeholders to be mindful of unverified reports and to rely on official communications from the NLA for accurate information.

“As part of its statutory mandate, the NLA continues to focus on raising much-needed revenue to support national development programs, while safeguarding the credibility of its gaming activities.

“The NLA assures the Liberian people of its unwavering dedication to professionalism and service in the interest of the nation.”
