NEC Alarms Over Website Hack
The National Elections Commission (NEC) has alarmed over the unscrupulous hacking of its website since the announcement of the first provisional results of the Lofa County senatorial by-election on June 30, 2022.
In a press statement issued over the weekend, the NEC said its attention has been drawn to several attempts by unknown persons to hack the public service information of NEC’s website, allegedly to distort the information and spread misinformation to the public about the results of the just-ended Lofa senatorial by-election.
According to NEC, “Ithas come to the attention of the National Elections Commission (NEC) that, since June 30, 2022 announcement of the first tallied results from the June 28, 2022 Lofa County senatorial by-election, there have been attempts by some unknown persons to hack the public service information of the National Elections Commission (NEC) website to distort the information and to spread misinformation to the public about the results of the just-ended Lofa senatorial by-election.
“The Commission has meanwhile informed the Ministry Justice about the matter.”
