NEC Certificates Botoe Kanneh & Willington Geevon Smith Today
A joint certification ceremony of the Senators-elect of Gbarpolu and Rivercess counties is expected to take place today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the National Elections Commission (NEC), 9th Street, Sinkor.
Senators-elect from the December 8, 2020 special senatorial elections, Botoe Kanneh and Willington Geevon Smith, will be certificated as senators of Gbarpolu and Rivercess counties, respectively.
A statement from the NEC, issued on March 29, 2021, says the joint certification ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. in the James M. Fromanyan Conference Hall, headquarters of the Commission.
The NEC statement says a mandate from the Supreme Court of Liberia to the National Elections Commission (NEC) will precede the certification of Senator-elect Botoe Kanneh, Gbarpolu County. Independent candidate Steve Tequah withdrew his petition against the process following the recount of the remaining 104 polling places in Rivercess County by the NEC, as mandated by the Supreme Court of Liberia.
