In a significant move for women’s football in Liberia, Oldman Sam Saryon, Chief Law Enforcement Consultant and Intelligence Analyst at Global Strategic Solutions (GSSI) Inc., has expressed interest in becoming the new CEO of Republic FC, a lower women’s league club under the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

In an exclusive interview at his office in Sinkor on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Saryon shared his ambitious vision for the club and his broader agenda for advancing women’s football in Liberia.
Saryon conveyed a strong personal connection to Republic FC, particularly highlighting the bond he shares with team manager Essiaka L. Kromah. “Essiaka is like a son to me. I have known him for many years, and he has successfully managed the team. My intention is to boost his financial morale so we can effectively promote the team,” he stated.

He asserted that no one person can tackle these obstacles alone. “We will be investing in sports and will support him wholeheartedly,” he affirmed, referencing the collective efforts needed to enhance the club’s prospects.

Saryon expressed a wider commitment to uplifting women’s football in Liberia as a whole, saying, “I want to see our team participating in international competitions and bringing home prestigious trophies to make our women and our country proud.”

He firmly believes that promoting female athletes is a step towards national progress: “When you promote a girl child, you promote a nation.” Saryon is passionate about the potential joy that comes from the success of female players, noting that when they excel, “the entire country will celebrate.”

He articulated a vision for active support of female athletes, emphasizing, “We need to support our girls to achieve this.” Having witnessed two female matches recently, Saryon expressed admiration for the talent displayed. “I was very much impressed. I believe female players just need support; with the right encouragement, they can achieve their dreams,” he remarked.

Saryon plans to leverage all available resources to bolster female participation in sports.
He underscored the need for strategic enhancements in how women’s football is engaged within the upcoming National County Sports Meet, suggesting a partnership between the Liberia Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to elevate the profile of female soccer during the event.

He envisions these matches as an opportunity for talent exposure that could attract international scouts, stating, “We want to see these kids recognized and given the opportunity to play at international levels.”

Saryon reaffirmed the vital role of collective support in advancing women’s football in Liberia. “We must unite to elevate women’s football to new heights,” he declared. With his leadership ambition, there is renewed hope for a brighter future for female athletes in the country.
