A consignment of hospital beds valued at US$75,000 have been donated to River Gee County health team for use by health centers in the region.

The donation was made at the weekend by the County Representative, Isaac Wuo, to complement government’s effort in providing effective healthcare delivery in the country.

Presenting the beds to the County Health Officer in the capital, Fish Town, the district #2 representative highlighted the difficulties hospitals face in caring for patients in the absence of needed logistical support.

The lawmaker observed that patients are spending huge sums of money to seek medication outside of River Gee due to the lack of hospital beds to accommodate them at the county’s health centers.

Representative Wuo underscored the hope that the donated materials will be used for the intended purposes and save the county health services from total collapse.

He disclosed that his donation has no political undertone but rather is a humanitarian gesture intended to help the county cope with the outbreak of diseases that can be treated at home.

Receiving the items River Gee County Health Officer, Dr. Paulye Weleyah, recalled that the gesture is the first of its kind to the county by a seated lawmaker, and appealed to other eminent citizens of River Gee to do the same.

The CHO emphasized that the donation will go a long way in strengthening the county’s healthcare delivery system and save the citizens from seeking medication outside of the county.

Dr. Weleyah emphasized that River Gee is in dire need of support to keep its healthcare services operational—at a time government faces serious financial problems in providing all the assistance needed to keep hospitals functional in the country.

Representative Isaac Wuo is becoming a leading donor to River Gee’s development agenda. In less than three years in office the lawmaker has provided support to several development initiatives aimed at lifting the citizens out of poverty.
