Orange Liberia Joins Other Orange Affiliates To Celebrate Engaged Employees On International Volunteering Day

In a vibrant celebration marking the International Day of Volunteers on December 4, 2024, Orange Liberia has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community and global engagement as they celebrate employees who over the year demonstrated their commitment towards promoting community wellbeing through volunteerism on its Engage for Change Program.

In his opening remarks, Senior Manager of the Orange Digital Center, Mulbah Zaza, underscored the significance of this day, reflecting on the profound impact of the “Engage for Change” initiative through the ODC, Foundation and CSR interventions. He highlighted the collective efforts of key partners who have been instrumental in this journey, acknowledging their invaluable contributions towards the success of these programs.

In her overview of the event, the Internal Communication Supervisor, Noosevett Weah, reminded attendees of the preciousness of the planet, emphasizing the importance of taking action to preserve the environment. She recognized the power of collective action and the critical role volunteers play in driving progress, stating that the day serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of promoting community wellbeing and sustainable development.

Senior Manager of Orange Foundation, Uomah Witherspoon, reemphasized the importance of the Engage for Change initiative, stating that it is an opportunity for every employee to make a concrete commitment and have a direct positive impact in society by supporting sustainable actions.

Making a statement on behalf of the CEO of Orange Liberia, Hossen Fofana, Chief Finance Officer, said that the Engage for Change Day is a testament to Orange Liberia’s collective commitment to growth, innovation, and embracing the opportunities that change brings as it not only reflects on how far Orange has come, but also to look at where it is headed.

“Orange’s Engage for Change is more than a slogan—it is a mindset. It’s about committing to the idea that we can always improve, evolve, and grow. And it’s about knowing that change isn’t something that happens to us; it’s something we create together,” Fofana said.

“Today, I encourage you to embrace the opportunities that come with change. Share your ideas, challenge old ways of thinking, and lean into the collaboration that makes us so unique. Together, we can turn obstacles into opportunities and build something extraordinary,” he added.

Key highlight of the program was a panel discussion wherein partners shared their respective journey working with Orange Liberia through its Foundation and Digital Centre to transform the lives of the Liberian people. The event was climaxed with a grand certification ceremony of employees who have volunteered during this year’s community driven programs.

Orange Engage for Change, an initiative launched at Orange in Africa and the Middle East, embodies the DNA of the company’s brand, and aims to unite forces to create a better world. Every year, Orange Engage for Change offers a unique opportunity to all its employees by granting them three days per year to directly contribute to projects with strong societal impact.
