The Minister of State without Portfolio and Head of the President’s Delivery Unit, Trokon Kpui, has disclosed that the PHP Sports & Recreational Facility is nearing completion and is expected to be dedicated soon.

Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Thursday, June 15, 2023, Minister Kpui said the project is about 87% completed and the D-12 sports pitch groundbreaking is expected anytime soon.

The Head of the President’s Delivery Unit indicated that there is a number of sports and recreational centers under the Sports for Development Project and the President Delivery Unit, including the Clara Town sports pitch and Logan Town pitch. According to him, a host of other projects in and out of Montserrado County are being earmarked by the PDU.

He said his unit is expected to dedicate a museum at the Invincible Sports Park on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

He added that the museum at the Invincible Sports Park is expected to feature some artifacts about President Weah’s journey and accomplishments from being a footballer to becoming president.

Minister kpui said the president’s projects are in fulfillment of his plan to develop the country, including the provision of recreation centers, to enable and afford Liberian youth the opportunity to develop their individual talents.

He stated that President Weah has emphasized the need for Liberia to consider hosting the African Cup of Nations, owing to the massive transformation taking place in the sporting sector, particularly the upgrading of football facilities.

He urged the community to make maximum use of the facility and keep it clean, safe and open to all Liberians without discrimination.
