Plot To Impose Candidate On CDCians In Gbarpolu County Exposed
A plot by some executive members of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to impose a candidate on Gbarpolu Chapter has been exposed.
Party loyalist in the county said they are aware of the undemocratic intent to manipulate the party’s primary next year in favor one Malikie Dukuly, said to be a close associate of some CDC senior officials.
Some partisans who are strongly opposed to the alleged plan emphasized that Malikie candidacy on the ticket of the party next year will undermine the victory of the coalition in Gbarpolu County.
Joseph Flomo, a CDCian residing in Bopolu District, said though Malikie was born in the county, he is a stranger in the region as he spent most of his life in the United States of America.
The CDC partisan pointed out further that the hidden hands behind what he described as mischief can do justice to the party by finding a job for their friend in government and allowing CDCians in the county to select their own candidate through a free and fair primary.
He indicated that any attempt to go ahead and impose a weak candidate, with limited political base in the county, on the mighty Coalition for Democratic Change will kill the morale of the party and undermine the reelection of Standard Bearer President George Manneh Weah.
Joseph Jallah, another Gbarpolu citizen residing in Gbarma District, who claimed to be a strong supporter of CDC in the county, expressed similar fear in an interview with the Hot Pepper.
Jallah explained that CDCians in Gbarpolu County are contemplating on giving the first preference to their stalwart, Representative Alfred Koiwood, to run on the party’s ticket.
He disclosed that the preferment of the lawmaker to contest the county’s senatorial seat on the ticket of the CDC is based on his contributions to the party and the sudden popularity he continues to enjoy in the entire county.
Joseph Jallah indicated further that, as a torch bearer of CDC in Gbarpolu, Representative Koiwood is currently the most popular aspirant with bases in all of the administrative districts, including Bopolu, Kongbar, Gbarma, Gborkomu and Ngou.
The CDcian recalled that the neck-to-neck result between Representative Koiwood and the winner of the last midterm election, Senator Gbotoe Kanneh, should be a reminder that Alfred Koiwood is a force to reckon with.
He noted that Alfred G. Koiwood is the only aspirant that will defeat the opposition in the senatorial race in the first round.
The Standard Bearer of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CSC), President George Manneh Weah, has always warned against unilateral decisions in the party, but whether this alleged plot will claim his attention remains to be seen.
