The Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) has commenced robust awareness and mobile training for procurement committees, heads of entities, communities, universities and high schools in Montserrado County and other parts of Liberia.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, November 25, 2021, Attorney Roseline Nagbe-Kowo, PPCC Executive Director, explained that the commission, as part of its mandate as indicated in section 5(b) of the PPCA 2010, should commence a massive awareness outreach that targets procurement committee members of various entities and other stakeholders.

According to her, this legal reliance gives PPCC the right to expand procurement awareness campaign to communities, universities and high schools in Monrovia and its environs.

She mentioned that communities and their inhabitants are the biggest beneficiaries of most procurement activities carried out in various government ministries, agencies and corporations.

Attorney Kowo underscored the need to propagate information about procurement laws, the work of PPCC and the many benefits that Liberia stands to attain regarding compliance.

“Procuring entities (procurement committees and practitioners) need to engage procurement members on the essentiality of stipulated roles and the importance of ensuring successful execution of procurement activities,” she intoned.

She continued, “PPCC is now taking the training to the doorsteps of ministries and agencies, an innovative approach that is timely,” Attorney Roseline Kowo pointed out.
