Pres. Boakai Consoles Guinea Over Death Of At Least 56 Persons

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a condolence message to the government and people of the Republic of Guinea following the unfortunate and tragic death of at least Fifty-six (56) persons due to a controversial refereeing decision during a soccer match between N’Zérékoré and Labe in N’Zérékoré City, Guinea, on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in his message to His Excellency General Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea, President Boakai expressed profound sadness at the passing of the 56 persons.

The Foreign Ministry release says President Boakai, on behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Liberia, extended deepest condolences to the government and citizens of the Republic of Guinea, especially the bereaved families, for the immeasurable loss.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of national mourning, and we hope that the Almighty Allah grants you and the people of Guinea the strength and resilience needed to navigate through this difficult period,” President Boakai’s condolence said.
