The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has hailed Liberians for the excellent manner in which they conducted themselves in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

President Weah said he was proud of Liberians for the resilience and commitment they demonstrated, which led to the country’s latest improvement in the Covid-19 performance index.

The United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) moved Liberia from Level Four to Level One in its Covid-19 control efforts.

Responding to reporters’ inquiry as to how he received the news of the country’s gains upon arrival Tuesday, November 16, 2021, President Weah was full of praise of the Liberian people. “This is good news for all Liberians,” the President stated.

“Let me first congratulate Liberians for listening to the government and the health team. This is good progress,” President Weah asserted.

The President however called on Liberians not to be complacent or overly passive, but do more so that the country finally beats the deadly pandemic.

“The fact that the disease is under control doesn’t mean that it can’t resurge,” the President warned. “We still need to be careful. Let’s keep wearing our masks, washing hands, and we must continue to behave the same way that brought us to this level of progress against the disease.”

After his international engagements in Scotland for the UN Climate Change Conference, France for Fourth Paris Peace Conference and UNESCO’s Summit, and Guinea Bissau for the country’s Independence Day Celebration, President Weah on Tuesday returned home to a tumultuous welcome at the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
