Prestige Motor Corporation (PMC) has suffered serious damage to its roof and showroom in a demolition exercise by the Public Works Ministry, without any prior notice, PMC officials said.
The building affected by the demolition exercise was constructed in the 1950s and hosted the then OAC, a European company that did business in Liberia.
PMC officials said Public Works removed its front porch, causing serious damage to its roof, profuse leakages in its showroom, and destroying interior decorations, among others.
A day following the demolition exercise youth groups were caught removing sand from beneath the building, which PMC officials said has the potential to undermine the building.
An official of the Ministry of Public Works said the demolition exercise is ahead of a major road construction, but declined to state whether the PMC was given sufficient and timely notice before the execution.
