The first female appointed Registrar General of the Cooperative Development Agency (CDA), Regina Sokan-Teah, is dead.

Sokan-Teah, a former Representative of Montserrado County’s district #10 (now district #14) in the 52nd National Legislature, was appointed by President George M. Weah in 2018 as Deputy Registrar General for Administration, Finance and Audit, a position she served for eight months. Realizing her innovation and dedication to work and country, President Weah appointed her Registrar General, becoming the first female Registrar General in the history of the agency since its establishment in 1936.

After a protracted illness, the former CDA boss was flown out of the country on May 10, 2023 to India for medical treatment, but did not make it.

In a related development, the President of the Republic, Dr. George Manneh Weah, has expressed sadness over the passing of the Registrar General of the Corporative Development Agency (CDA), Regina Sokan Teah, who died on Friday, May 12, 2023, following a period of illness.

An Executive Mansion statement says Sokan-Teah took over the CDA in 2020 after being appointed by the President and was dedicated to the execution of the agency’s mandate while working with farmers in rural communities.

She previously served as lawmaker of the 52nd National Legislature and co-chaired the Women’s Legislative Caucus. Teah was a founding member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

President Weah has said that over the years Teah became a friend and a strong supporter of his leadership. He said her passing will create a deep void at the CDA, where she helped mobilize and regulate grassroot farms into socioeconomic cooperative entities.

The Liberian Leader has conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and all those impacted by her death while also urging them to take solace in the Lord.
