On Tuesday, March 5, 2024 the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism held a program that officially marked the turnover ceremony of the out-going Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie, to the in-coming Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah, at the premises of the ministry, Buzzy Quarters, Monrovia; Cynthia Quinisier reports.

Speaking during the turnover ceremony, the newly appointed Minister, Piah, disclosed a plan by H.E. President Joseph N. Boakai to create a National Tourism Authority, which will separate the Information and Culture Affairs Ministry from tourism, noting that the National Legislature has promised to play its part in ensuring that the tourism authority is established.

According to him, the Ministry of Information cannotmove forward without the media; as such, he is willing and fully prepared and open to working with media executives.

Minister Piah asserted that, in order to foster peace and national progress, the state radio should act as a bridge between the opposition and the ruling party as well as the government. He emphasized the importance of keeping politics out of the media, noting that doing so will support the country’s unity.

Meanwhile, minister Piah has expressed thanks and appreciation to President Boakai for affording him the opportunity to serve in the capacity of Minister of Information, and vowed to work and contribute to making the ARREST agenda a success.
