Nimba County’s electoral district #7 Representative, Roger Domah, has decried the deplorable condition of the Bahn High School in his district.
Speaking to the Hot Pepper Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his Capitol Building office, the Nimba County lawmaker reminded the President George M. Weah that the condition of the school is completely a “death trap” that needs urgent renovation for the school-going children in that part of the country.
President Weah on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 took an assessment tour in Monrovia to a number of public schools. During the tour, the Liberian leader expressed disappointment in the authorities at the Ministry of Education over the deplorable condition of D. Tweh High School on the Bushrod Island.
However, speaking to this paper regarding the conditions of schools across the country, Representative Domah said D. Tweh High School is 90% better than the Bahn High School in his district. “The Bahn High School is a death trap. That school was built in 1950s as dirt-to-dirt, and was later plastered. If you go there now, erosion has eaten under it. The walls are all cracked, the ceilings are falling,” he lamented.
He added, “I have personally met the Minister of Education and all they have been saying is that if they have the support they will do the assessment and see how they can help. If the President can be discouraged with D. Tweh High School in Monrovia, I want to invite him to Bahn High School Campus and he will share tears about the environment the young people are learning under.”
The Unity Party lawmaker is therefore calling on the authorities of the Ministry of Education to help save the lives of the students so that the building will not collapse on them. “It is a complete mess right now, but they are compelled to use it because it is what they have for now,” Representative Domah continued.
