Montserrado County’s district #12 Representative-elect, Jerry K. Yogboh, has commenced constituents’ engagement throughout the district. The engagement, duped “Pre-Legislative Constituent Engagement Forum”, began over the weekend when the in-coming representative of the district appeared at the Central Administrative Region (CAR) in Kesselly Boulevard community.

Speaking at the forum, he appreciated the constituents for his election, and promised to serve the district with accountability, transparency and exhibit shared leadership in governing the district. Yogboh called for peace and reconciliation in the district, following the division caused by the 2023 presidential and legislative elections. He said he has begun reaching out to the rest of the 20 candidates who contested for the district’s seat and their supporters, as a means of reconciling and uniting the district. He announced the holding of a peace and reconciliation tournament in the district to unite the youths of the district.

Representative-elect Yogboh also used the occasion to present his legislative and developmental agenda to constituents of the district. He said, as promised during his campaign, he will collaborate with his colleagues in exercising robust oversight over the workings of the Executive and Judicial branches of government. He promised to propose the implementation of existing laws; push for the repealing of the Monrovia Industrial Park Law of 1965, thereby giving Chicken Soup Factory and Glass Factory communities’ residential status; call for review and amendments to the Prison Systems Law and Real Estate Tax Assessments Laws of Liberia, as well advance other legislations in the interest of the Liberian people.

Speaking on his developmental agenda, Yogboh disclosed that he will complete the unfinished District Administrative Building and the Kesselly Boulevard Market in the district; ensure the rehabilitation of major feeder roads in the district; provide scholarships and push for budgetary allocations for developmental initiatives in the district.

In conclusion, Yogboh endorsed the speakership bid of Deputy Speaker, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa. He asserted that his decision to support the speakership of the Grand Kru County district #2 Representative is to ensure the independence of the 55th Legislature. He also stated that Deputy Speaker Cllr. Koffa possesses the legal knowledge, legislative experience, congenial relationship and international connections to preside over the first branch of government. He added that Cllr. Koffa is the best suited candidate for a geo-politically balanced government.
