Montserrado County’s district #4 Representative, Michael M. Thomas, has broken ground for a multi-purpose project—a vocational and academic school in Soul Clinic—that will benefit present and future generations in terms of academic knowledge and vocational skills.
“We have come today to officially break ground for this over-20-classroom building that will provide for the people of Soul Clinic, district #4, the people of Liberia, quality education,” Representative Thomas said, as he and his peers broke ground for the project. “We want to say thank you, and we now break ground in the name of the Father, Son and the blessed Holy Spirit.”
The project, which is around Lloyd FM Radio Station, New Kaymah Town, Soul Clinic, is a 20-classroom project that will promote both academic and vocational activities across the district and nation.
According to Representative Thomas, the project costs US$75,000 to US$110,000, and will be speedily accomplished in order for academic and vocational operation to start.
The program, which was well attended, brought together Representative Prince Toles of Montserrado County’s district #8, Rivercess County’s district #1 Representative, Alex Grant, and Obediah Varney of Bomi County’s district #1, as well as Representative Thomas’ staffers, community leaders, other dignitaries, well-wishers, and so on.
However, in retrospect, Representative Thomas delineated his contributions to the district. He said the Thomas Foundation provided mobile clinic service for the people, is promoting academic activities at the Thomas Foundation High School, and empowering the people of Liberia with vocational skills.
On behalf of the legislators who attended the program, Representative Toles pledged 100 bags of cement as their initial contribution toward the project.
In special remarks, the education officer of Paynesville One, youth representative, Gaza chairman, and co-chairman of Kaymah Town, in a joyous tones embraced the project, valued it as a life-changing opportunity, and thanked Representative Thomas for the venture.
In superlative terms, the youth representative urged his peers to consider the project as theirs, noting that it will provide skills for them. “Let’s protect it with our whole heart, because it’s for our benefit,” the youth head added.
For the resumption of the vocational school, Representative Thomas has distributed forms to organizations, churches, and so on, and suspended some of the requirements in order for more people to enroll.
“The vocational school is free of charge. No payment for T-shirt, I.D card. Buy your ordinary white T-shirt and blue jeans and go to school,” Representative Thomas said, opening the floodgate for vocation training. “The 12th batch graduation ceremony of the Thomas Vocational School is this month.”
The multi-purpose building is a state-of-the-art one, and will serve as a continued promotion of academic and vocational skills crusade for the youth and others.
“Today in electoral district #4, we witness the monumental event, where we break ground for education, life, sustainability, empowerment, and the education of our young generation,” Representative Thomas observed.
