Residents of Shara Community sighed medical service nightmare relief as Montserrado County’s district #4 Representative, Michael M. Thomas, opened a modern health center for the area and other communities.
“The health center will not only help people of Shara Community, but surrounding communities and people from varied backgrounds,” Tarena Thomas, head of the project said.
The project is being implemented by The Thomas’ Foundation, whose mission and vision are to decentralize medical service and education programs nationwide for all Liberians and other nationals.
The Shara Health Canter, which is fully equipped, is rendering free medical service to children from zero to five years and pregnant women, according to the wife of Representative Thomas. It was founded by Representative Thomas for humanitarian purpose and his profound love for the district.
As the facility will render 24-hour medical service, she starkly warned medical practitioners there to prioritize patients’ needs, adding that no one will address patients unethically, no one will browse social media during active service, and no jeering at patients, especially women in labor pain, and so on.
For staff payment and maintenance, children from six years and above and adult will pay a medical service fee before treatment, she announced. Representative Thomas was not present because he travelled.
However, Dr. Wolo, who serves as chief medical advisor for the Shara Community Health Center, pledged his unflinching support.
Speaker Richard Koon’s Chief of Office Staff cut the ribbon, and he, Representative Thomas’s wife, Dr. Wolo and others, toured the facility.
Meanwhile, several community leaders of the district expressed appreciation to Representative Thomas and the Thomas’ Foundation for the project, and urged community dwellers to be supportive.
