Margibi County’s district #3 Representative, Ellen Attoh Wreh, has warned against any bad law which will not be in the interest of the Liberian people.

Representative Wreh stated that the pension act for government officials passed by the Liberian Senate does not seek the interest of the people they are representing at the Legislature.

The Margibi County lawmaker made the assertion over the weekend when she called for the House of Representatives not to concur with the Senate in plenary.

She noted that the pension scheme of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) is intended to cater to all retirees in government and the private sector depending on their contribution to the scheme.

She pointed out that serving the Liberian people at the Legislature is not a right for them but a privilege, which should not be abused.

Representative Wreh warned that laws which will cause taxpayers money to be spent on  people who served at the Legislature but thereafter should be paid for the rest of their  life should not be accepted now and in the future in Liberia.

She described the pension act passed by the Senate as a bad law which will not benefit the nation and its people.

Meanwhile, the Margibi County lawmaker has disclosed that certain items from the United States of America for the people of Liberia, particularly district #3, Margibi County, will soon arrive in Liberia.

Representative Wreh said she was able to lobby with her old classmates and school friends residing in the United States to help Liberians back home with these items.

She maintained that her visit to America was private, but she saw the need to lobby for items that will benefit the people. She noted that these items will help to empower the beneficiaries.
