Four hundred and sixteen (416) students on Saturday, December 18, 2021 graduated from Sabegna School of Travel and Tourism (SSTT), earning diplomas in various areas of studies.
The graduates, who enrolled at SSTT since 2020, completed the necessary requirements as enshrined in the school’s curriculum.
Sabegna School of Travel and Tourism (SSTT) offers standard national diploma (SND) and higher national diploma (HND). At the standard national diploma (SND) level, students are taught basic formalities in customer service management (CSM), hotel and tourism management (HUT), cargo handling (CGO) and travel agent training (TAT) for twelve months, while at the higher national diploma (HND) level, which is an advanced level, students are taught in-depth procedures in customer service management (CSM), cargo handling (CGO) and travel agent training (TAT) for six months.
Speaking during the 21st thanksgiving and Commencement Convocation, held at the Greater Refuge Cathedral, Oldest Congo Town, Tubman Boulevard, Olive Cisco, who served as the keynote speaker at the ceremony, urged the graduates to showcase what they have learned to the world.
Cisco told the graduates that the world after graduation is challenging, adding that determination is a component to overcoming challenges faced after graduation. She lectured the graduates on a wide range of issues that tailored on guiding them, as well as explaining her own experience after graduation.
During the graduation ceremony, three outstanding individuals were inducted into Sabegna’s Hall of Fame by Henry Benson Sr., Administrative Director of the school. Some partners of the school were also honored for their partnership and support to the school over the years.
Benson also honored 21 graduates who distinct themselves in three categories of excellence: cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude.
Benson used the occasion to applaud his dedicated staff for the level of support given the school over the years in helping it to achieve its goals.
Sabegna School of Travel and Tourism (SSTT) was established in 1998 by Benson and others with the objectives to meet the manpower needs of the travel and tourism sector of Liberia.
Currently, 85% of those working at the RIA are all graduates of Sabegna. Accordingly, many of those working within the various airlines are graduates of the Sabegna.
The program was well attended by officials of the Government of Liberia (GOL), special invitees, Sabegna School authorities, graduates, among others.
