–In Relations To The Alleged mysterious Death of Emmanuel Barthan Nyeswa

The Criminal Court “C” has issued a Ne-Exeat Republica writ on the former Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Samuel D. Tweah, Jr., and some other former officials of the Weah administration, including former Solicitor General, Nyanti Tuan, barring them from leaving the country.

The writ mandates the seizure of passports of the named individuals if they make any attempt to leave the country without proper clearance, and if the court is closed they are to be detained until court proceedings can resume.

The writ was issued on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in regard to the alleged mysterious death of Emmanuel Barthan Nyeswa, the former head of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), after the Ministry of Justice reportedly expressed concerns that the accused might flee the country.

It can be recalled that Nyeswa’s body was discovered in October 2020 in his yard in Paynesville, a suburb of Monrovia, with reports suggesting that he died after falling from his balcony, following a night out. However, lingering doubts about the circumstances of his death prompted further investigation.

Several individuals were accused, including Samuel Tweah, Norris Tweah and Bill Tweahway.

Tweah was on yesterday, October 2, 2024 invited by the Liberia National Police (LNP) regarding Nyeswa’s death. He honored the invitation, provided a voluntary statement as a person of interest and left the LNP premises.
