The office of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Sr. has vehemently condemned the lawlessness and unwarranted act by individuals he described as preposterous and wayward hooligans and bandits who burned, vandalized and looted homes in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, including his residence, located in Todeyville and Kudah-By-Pass.

According to a press statement from the office of Senator Pennue, it was also reported that market centers, shops and stores were closed due to the panic created by the ruffians, and that schools and other business transactions were interrupted for a cause yet to be established.

“The attention of the office of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Sr. has been drawn to the news of the sad passing of our Representative, Honorable Erol Madison Gwion, of District One, Grand Gedeh County. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to all for this irreparable loss and stand in our prayers for the Lord’s consolation in these difficult times,” a press release from Senator Zoe Pennue’s office read.

“We pray to find comfort, peace of mind and hold together in our thoughts as one people to navigate through these difficult and painful corridors.

“However, while we are in this shocking mood of bereavement and taking solace in the Lord, an unprecedented situation emerged since the establishment of Grand Gedeh County in 1964 to divert our attention,” the statement observed.

According to the statement, “Liberia is a country of law; accordingly, we call on the Ministry of Justice and other relevant authorities concerned to do more, by bringing would-be perpetrators to book for immediate investigation and subsequent prosecution where applicable.

“Thus far, the office of the Senator appreciates the intervention of state security and all peaceful citizens for the return of normalcy to Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County.”
