Gbarpolu County Senator and National Chair for the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Daniel Flomo Naatehn, has been confirmed dead in India.

The shocking death news hit Liberia early Tuesday morning when the office of the late Senator confirmed his death to the Press and Public Affairs Department of the Liberian Senate.

Accordingly, the Senate through a release, has sent a message of condolence to the citizens of Gbarpolu County and the bereaved family over the death of Senator Naatehn.

The release quotes family sources as saying that the senator died in India where he had gone to honor his regular routine medical check-up.

In the statement, Senate Pro-tempore, Albert Chie, on behalf of the Liberian Senate described the death of the senator as a great loss, not only to Gbarpolu County, but the country at large. He said the late Senator was one of the senators who was outspoken and participated in several debates.

The release, signed by Director Alfred Johnson, said the late senator served the Legislature for 17 years from the interim regime under Gyude Byrant, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf term, and now President George Weah.

“The late Senator Naatehn once served as Chairperson on the Senate Executive Committee and, up to his demise, served as Chairperson on the Senate Transport Committee.

He was also a member of several Committees including, Youth and Sports, Internal Affairs, Health, as well as Ways, Means, Finance and Budget.
