The Solidarity and Trust for A New Day (STAND), a pro-democracy and civil society group recently established by the former Chair of the Coalition for Democratic Change(CDC), Mulbah Morlu, has named Dr. Marie Scott Wilson as its Country Director/Advocate-General for the United States of America; Cynthia Quinisier reports.

The appointment of Dr. Wilson on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 by the National Chair of the movement, MulbahMorlu, was contained in a press statement.

“Dr. Wilson, a Liberian based in the United States, will head a team of professionals currently undergoing vetting for additional appointments,” the release said.

STAND has reaffirmed its status as a registered civil society organization and clarified that it will not transition into a political party.

Additionally, it will aim to collaborate with local US-based organizations, government entities, and stakeholders to advance Liberian interests and enhance accountability among government officials in Liberia.

Meanwhile, one of STAND-USA’s imminent priorities is to raise awareness for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court in Liberia.

Furthermore, STAND reaffirms its non-political stance and commitment as a registered civil society organization, firmly declaring its choice to remain independent from political party affiliations. It abstains from endorsing any political ideology and remains steadfastly dedicated to grassroots advocacy.

“STAND underscores its identity as a transparent grassroots civil society institution, free from hidden political agendas. Its principal goal is to mobilize the power of the people to hold government and the elite accountable,” the press statement disclosed.
