Tabital Pulaaku Liberia, a civil society organization, has extended congratulatory message to the President-elect of the Republic of Liberia, H.E Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai, on his recent victory in the November 14, 2023 presidential run-off election.

In a press statement issued Thursday, November 23, 2023, the President of Tabital Pulaaku Liberia, Youssouf Barry, observed that Liberia’s commitment to democracy and the peaceful conduct of the electoral process is commendable. “Clearly, Liberia has showcased her dedication to fostering a democratic space for its citizens,” he said.

“We are convinced that the new leadership will do all within its power to address the issues of corruption and weak justice system, revive policies around the educational system, stabilize the economy, increase employment opportunities, especially among young people, and strengthen relationships with our bilateral partners, among others,” President Barry added.

According to Barry, Liberians voted for change and their expectations are high. “We wish the new administration all the best, and Tabital Pulaaku Liberia will support this administration in any way that is required,” he noted.

“To President George M. Weah, we salute you for your statesmanship in conceding defeat gracefully. You have demonstrated a high moral value and huge democratic credentials. History will be kind to him.  To the international community, we are grateful for your presence and technical support. You helped to add value and credibility to the electoral process. Your unwavering commitment to democratic values has helped strengthen Liberia’s position on the global stage. The National Elections Commission (NEC) continued to demonstrate high level of impartiality and credibility. This is the democracy we have been longing for.

“We also acknowledge the significant contributions of civil society organizations and the religious community in fostering a conducive atmosphere for the elections. Their tireless efforts in promoting civic engagement and advocating for peaceful coexistence have been instrumental in shaping Liberia’s democratic landscape,” President Barry asserted.

He said, “As Liberia moves forward, we urge President-elect Joseph Boakai to prioritize national unity and healing. Reconciliation should be at the forefront of his agenda to mend the divisiveness that may have arisen during the electoral process. We believe that a united Liberia is essential for sustained peace and prosperity.

“Furthermore, we call upon President-elect Boakai to focus on improving the lives of the Liberian people. Addressing issues such as corruption and ensuring equal opportunity for all citizens is central to his administration’s goals. The fight against corruption is crucial for building a just and equitable society, and creating equal opportunities will contribute to the overall development of the nation.”

He underscored that Tabital Pulaaku Liberia remains committed to playing an active role in the country’s social and educational spheres. “Our organization is dedicated to supporting education in Liberia and contributing to the broader social fabric. We emphasize the importance of religious harmony, tolerance, and inclusivity as essential components of Liberia’s diverse and vibrant society.

“In conclusion, we congratulate President-Elect Joseph Boakai once again and express our optimism for a prosperous and harmonious Liberia under his leadership. May the nation continue to uphold democratic values and strive for progress and unity.”
