Taekwondo Federation Embarks On First-Degree Black Belt Holders’ Seminar
Authorities of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation (LTF) have embarked on training black belt holders for first degree in Taekwondo at the federation.
The first-degree-black-belt-holders-in-Taekwondo seminar started over the weekend in Paynesville at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, where the Liberia Taekwondo Federation headquarters is located.
Speaking at the well attended opening, Master Junior Pewee Russian, President of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation, told participants of the federation that the five-week seminar was designed by his leadership to equip participants, especially black belt holders of the federation, in various techniques in Taekwondo despite their rank.
Master Russian said, following the end of the five-week training of the Liberian black belt holders, they will be promoted to the first-degree level in Taekwondo and master as well.
According to him, for too long the Liberia Taekwondo Federation has been backward in its operation.
He said as an athlete he suffered coming up in Liberia, and his leadership purposes to provide the necessary environment for athletes in the country.
Master Russian, who holds several degrees in Taekwondo from Korea and other disciplines, comes to the table with vast experience in several techniques in Taekwondo.
He also told the trainees to learn to promote their fellow trainers after three months, if necessary. Master Russian noted that promotion is key to the work of an athlete, because it serves as motivation.
Over one-hundred black belt holders are attending the five-week seminar at the LTF headquarters in Paynesville City.
The training is conducted by a number of trained masters of the LTF.
If the black belt holders at the training passed through this seminar, it qualifies them for international fight.
Taekwondo is a Korean form of martial art involving punching and kicking techniques, with emphasis on head height kicks, spinning jump kick, and fast kicks.
