The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) on Monday, October 3, 2022 confirmed the arrest of a US$100 million-worth of cocaine that was arrested on the October 1, saying that all those involved will face the full weight of the law.

Addressing a press conference, the Director General of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, Marcus D. Zehyoue, said the investigation is still on-going.

According to him, the alleged accomplice to suspect Malam Conte, identified as Issam Makki, was arrested across the Bo-Waterside, Sierra Leone, while attempting to escape the country.

The LDEA boss said they are taking every step possible to ensure that the crime scene remains a priority, “and that we are able to reach out to every source necessary to aid the investigation to a concluding end”.

He said they are working closely with their international counterpart to ensure they gather sufficient information leading to extended links surrounding the criminal conspiracy.

At the same time, the Justice Minister, Frank Musa Dean, said the government is doing everything possible to mitigate drug trafficking.

Minister Dean disclosed that they will be very clear that Liberia will not be a haven for drug traffickers, whether as a point for transit or final destination, and that “those arrested will face the full force of our law”.
