Contrary to a widespread social media post circulated over the weekend that the University of Liberia (UL) is poised to drop 8,000 students—because they allegedly enrolled fraudulently—the university’s administration has categorically dismissed the news as “fake news”, saying it lacks any iota of truth or veracity.

Through its University Relations, the UL administration maintained that the allegation is simply intended to undermine the university, upset students and stakeholders, cause chaos, and unnecessary distraction among students who are currently writing final exams.

The UL administration, therefore, encouraged students to remain focused on academics and, in case of any doubt, refer and revert to the university’s official channels for any information about the university.

The UL administration urged students and the public to remain calm and only rely on information shared through the UL official communications channels, including the UL website, Facebook page, and Lux Radio, among others, for factual information concerning the university.
