The University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) has announced it would stay away from all academic activities until a negotiated collective bargaining agreement (CBA), addressing all their issues are signed by the University of Liberia (UL) administration, the Government of Liberia (GOL) and ULFA.

ULFA has therefore urged all faculty members to disengage from any planned academic activities on all campuses of the University of Liberia (UL) until further notice.

In a release issued over the weekend, ULFA said they convened an emergency general assembly for full-time faculty on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. on the Capitol Hill campus of the University of Liberia (UL), predicated on the July 18, 2025 constitutional general assembly, which mandated the executive committee of ULFA to present and hold discussions with UL administration and other stakeholders within the period of one month on issues affecting the welfare of the faculty.

Issues of ULFA concern include poor sanitary condition, long-standing faculty promotion, salary disparity, social security, issues affecting study leave and renovation of all campuses. Most recent issues include outstanding payment for overload and vacation school salaries.

Due to the unresolved outstanding issues, ULFA voted unanimously on Friday to stay away from all academic activities until the UL administration and the government can sign a collective bargaining agreement with them.
