The Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Jefferson Tamba Koijee, has accused the Unity Party government, specifically the Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Sakila Nyumalin, of giving instructions to the leadership of the Township of West Point to deny the CDC from using the soccer pitch constructed by former President George Manneh Weah.

Speaking over the weekend, Koijee said the Unity Party government is looking for trouble, but they will not take the law into their own hands.

Koijee had led a CDC delegation to the Township of West Point on Friday, September 20, 2024, to officially launch the awareness campaign of the party’s up-coming National Dollar Rally, which he said will commensurate with the birthday celebration of the party’s Political Leader, George Manneh Weah, on October 1, 2024, but were denied having the event on the sports pitch, arguably the only open space in that densely populated area.

Speaking to supporters and sympathizers in West Point during the community engagement, Koijee said the party has embarked on a mandate, “National Return to the People’s Community”, aimed at reminding CDCians about the great come back in 2029. According to him, the party intends to raise US$2.5 million to support grassroots initiatives for the institution and its partisans.

He said the engagement starts now and will begin with a series of other engagements meant to mobilize members for the up-coming dollar rally that will commence October 1, 2024, when thousands of partisans will converge at the party’s headquarters for the mass celebration, and climax on November 7, 2024.

“At the conclusion of the rally on November 7, which signifies the CDC’s Martyr Day, every county will concomitantly conduct its own event. All partisans are requested to get fired up as we resuscitate our party for a great come back,” Koijee disclosed.
