A group of Unity Party partisans, under the banner, “UP Progressive Student Union”, has commended the Director General of the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Dewitt vonBallmoos, for his excellent administrative leadership skills and professionalism that has transformed the corporation.

The group said the level of growth and development that NASSCORP has experienced under the administration of vonBallmoos is more than the achievements of all those who have led the corporation since its establishment in 1975; as such, the UP Student Progressive Union is set to recognize and award Dewitt vonBallmoos as “Champion of Corporate Development in Liberia”.

Presenting findings on the performance of officials of the UP-led government, the Chairperson of the Committee on Research, Information and Vetting of the UP Progressive Student Union, Robertson Jallah, said, “Findings from research conducted and information gathered by the Research, Information and Vetting Committee of the UP Progressive Student Union on the performance of officials of the UP Government established that the Director General of the  National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Hon. Dewitt vonBallmoos, is the most performing official, evidenced by his mammoth achievements at the corporation. Under the leadership of Mr. vonBallmoos, NASCCORP has, in the last five years alone, paid over US$69,474,128.99 in benefits to 15,602 pensioners and other beneficiaries under both the EIS and NPS programs.

“Apart from his regular supports to the national budget, NASSCORP under Hon. vonBallmoos has made significant contributions to many off-budget government projects, including the construction of a modern multi-story and multi-million dollar state-of-the-art headquarters for NASSCORP on 24th Street, Sinkor; construction of the real estate complex, being used by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA); construction of the Jamale Medical Diagnostic Centers at ELWA Junction and New Kru Town, currently providing affordable and quality healthcare services for ordinary Liberians; and the construction of the NASSCORP Regional Office in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, with a branch of SIB Bank providing jobs for Liberians.”

The group also named the renovation of the operations theater at the John F. Kennedy Center; support towards the construction of pro-poor housing units in rural Liberia, especially in Grand Kru, Bong, Nimba and Margibi counties; support towards the construction of the Invincible Park, which serves as modern center for sports and comfortable recreation for Liberians; contributions towards the construction of mini-stadiums in slump communities, including the WestPoint and the Clara Town Sports Parks; and the contributions towards the construction of a modern multi-playground and recreation center in PHP, Monrovia.

They further named the pavement of the 24th Street Road, beachside, Sinkor; regular contributions towards the National County Meet hosted annually by the Ministry of Youth & Sports; regular direct bank payment service to pension and retirement beneficiaries; contributions of 50,000 notebooks to the Ministry of Education for struggling students; support to the elderly, disabled, vulnerable and most needy in society; and the on-going construction of drainage system on 24th Street, Sinkor, beachside, and others.

The UP Progressive Student Union concluded by recognizing Dewitt vonBallmoos as a great administrator and professional deserving of commendation and honor. The group intimated that vonBallmoos’ leadership at NASSCORP has made milestone impact not just in the social security and welfare sector, but has also helped to advance access to healthcare, build and develop human resource capacity through scholarships and financial aids, provided support to disaster response and recovery, invested in social corporate responsibility programs, supported infrastructure development, and build trust with local and international organizations.

The group disclosed that they are set to present a gigantic award to Dewitt vonBallmoos for his countless, laudable achievements at the corporation.
