L-R: Ex-Pres. George M. Weah and former First Lady Nancy Doe
SHARE

Former President George M. Weah has expressed sadness over the passing of former First Lady, Nancy B. Doe, who ended her earthly sojourn on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after a period of illness. Weah said First Lady Doe will be remembered for her charitable endeavors and steadfast advocacy for women during the tenure of her husband, former President Samuel K. Doe.

“Her loss resonates with me personally, given the pivotal role the former President played in my journey to becoming a professional football player. I vividly recall her towering presence and unwavering support for her husband’s initiatives to promote football and bolster the national team,” ex-President Weah said

Weah observed that, even in her latter years, First Lady Doe remained deeply committed to Liberia, and that she and her family closely followed the nation’s progress in the decades following the civil war, all while championing justice and peace.

“Her passing has left a profound void, not only for those who came to know her—such as myself—but for the entire nation. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and all those touched by her remarkable life. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” ex-President Weah mourned.
