In an effort to boost Liberia’s Information Communications Technology (ICT) sector, a team from the World Bank Group paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications to highlight future Information Communications Technology (ICT) connectivity for Liberia.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2021, the Minister of Posts & Telecommunications, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah Sr., along with the Deputy Minister for Technical Services, Prosper K. Browne, held a discussion with the World Bank Group centered around digital interoperability for all government ministries and agencies.

Lorena Vinuela, the Senior Public Sector Specialist working under the World Bank Group project identified as IBRD-IDA informed Minister Kruah that the intent of the project is to ensure that all government ministries and agencies have a centralized database system that will enhance ICT connectivity in the country.

However, Minister Kruah, during the meeting, also gave an overview of several projects that involved ICT under his administration and past administrations. He named the National Postal Address System as one and the E-Liberia Portal.

Minister Kruah lamented that the National Postal Address system, which gives specific numbers to homes, business center, churches, or buildings, has a platform that will be connected to other ICT platforms for specific purpose.

The Postal Affairs Minister further informed the delegation that the ministry also developed an e-portal platform called e-Liberia, a one-stop shop for digital transactions. He further noted that the digital interoperability approach is similar to the e-Liberia portal.

Meanwhile, Minister Kruah welcomed the team from the World Bank Group and promised to work along with them for a better future on Liberia’s ICT development.
