The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, says he is deeply saddened by the demise of one of Europe’s greatest sons, H.E. Mr. David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, which occurred on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, Europe and the world will forever remember H.E. David Sassoli, the late President of the European Parliament for his ideals and contributions, especially his firm belief in the principles of multilateralism, solidarity and social justice, which guided his action in the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic, calling for more democracy, solidarity and compassion.
In his condolence message to H.E. Charles Michel, President of the European Council, President Weah, On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Liberia, extended heartfelt condolences to the European Council, Parliament and people, particularly the bereaved family, for the irreparable loss.
He then prayed that the Almighty God will grant his Excellency, Europeans and the bereaved family the fortitude to endure this time of grief.
