Commerce Minister, Mawine Diggs
SHARE

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) is calling on the public, mainly the business community, to beware of unscrupulous individuals who are using the name of the Ministry to extort money from business people.

According to a Ministry of Commerce and Industry release, the unscrupulous elements, purporting to be Commerce and Industry Minister, Mawine G. Diggs, are constantly soliciting money from business people and harassing them through text messages and calls.

The release says the Ministry is not treating the matter lightly, taking into account that such practices have the propensity of eroding the hard-earned reputation of Commerce and Industry Minister, Mawine G. Diggs, and bringing the ministry’s image into public ridicule.

The release, signed by the Communications Director at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Jacob N.B. Parley, notes further that a formal complaint has been filed and that investigation into the matter has begun by the National Security apparatus in order to ensure that those involved and their culprits face the law.

The on-going investigation will also prevent future occurrence of such unscrupulous acts, the release states further.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is meanwhile calling on the public, mainly the business community, not to fall prey to such criminal schemes and report any such act to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry immediately on +231- (0)778217735.
