On October 6, the Chinese embassy in Liberia held a donation ceremony of female sanitary items to the Jewel Star Fish Foundation. Chinese Ambassador, Ren Yisheng, on behalf the embassy, handed over 6,000 packs of female sanitary items to H.E. Jewel Howard-Taylor, Vice President of Liberia, who founded the Foundation.
The Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the embassy, Li Jiang, from the embassy and the Vice President’s deputy chief of staff, Charley, and others attended the event.
Ambassador Ren commended the work done by Vice President Taylor to promote and protect the vulnerable groups, including women, girls and persons with disabilities. He expressed that China and Liberia are good friends and partners, and the embassy has donated these items to support the Liberian government and the relevant institutions to better promote the development of women’s cause in Liberia and enhance the friendship between the two countries and the pragmatic cooperation between China-Africa and China-Liberia. Ambassador Ren also introduced the great achievements China has made in economic and social development and the forthcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Vice President Taylor congratulated the Chinese embassy on the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and wished the 20th National Congress of the CPC a great success. She commended the great economic development China has made, thanked China’s contribution to Liberia’s peace building and development, and anticipated that the friendly and pragmatic economic and trade cooperation between Liberia and China will be brought to a higher level.
Vice President Taylor thanked the Chinese embassy for the donation of female sanitary items to the Jewel Star Fish Foundation, and hoped to further strengthen the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
On September 27, 2022, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Ren Yisheng, also handed over 6,000 packs of female sanitary items to the Clar Hope Foundation, which was founded by the First Lady of Liberia, H.E. Clar Marie Weah, through her Chief of Staff, Gaelle Mediem.
