Inspector General of LNP, Col. Patrick Sudue

The inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Col. Patrick T. Sudue, has threatened to teargas any citizen who will stone officers of the LNP while performing their professional duty of maintaining law and order throughout the country.

“The conduct of our election should be very peaceful because if anybody goes up there with the hope of causing chaos for our people we will go after you. If you stone us, we will teargas you,” IG stated.

According to Col. Sudue, the LNP has been very robust with citizens. “We have been peaceful in enforcing… We will not sit for this country to go backward; we will ensure that the election will be conducted in a very peaceful atmosphere.

“We are not going to sit for one group of people to derail the peace that we all enjoy, so we will ensure that our men are deployed throughout the fifteen counties of Liberia,” the IG disclosed.

Speaking at the press conference yesterday at the headquarters of LNP, he said they are working with all political parties, and that police officers will be assigned whenever they are moving around.

He added their obligation to talk to people, political parties, leaders, youth leaders, community leaders, including the Press Union of Liberia, to play particular roles in the election process.

“We have to ensure that this election is very peaceful. We should not engage in violence; as such, we should not engage our youth into violent acts,” he expressed.

He maintained that all politicians should be warned agaisnt violating the law. “We have had lot of elections that the LNP conducted, and we can assure you this time around the election will be very peaceful.”

In a related development, IG Sudue has said that the Liberian National Police (LNP) is ready and prepared to deal with individuals caught in the act of raping under-aged children in the country. He stated that rape is alarming; as such, it needs to be fought to the letter by all well-meaning Liberians in the country.

Police Inspector General Sudue expressed delight that it was good that President George Manneh Weah has declared rape as a national emergency, which he said needs to be dealt with to the letter.

The LNP Chief stated that real men do not rape, adding those individuals caught in the ugly act will be treated like armed robbers.

Police Inspector General Sudue made the assertion Tuesday, October 6, 2020 when he addressed members of the Center for the Exchange of Intellectual Opinions (CEIO) in central Monrovia.

Inspector General Sudue emphasized the need for all men in the country to stand up in their numbers to say no to rape.

He then used the occasion to call on his male counterparts to resist all forms of demonstrative violence against women in the country.  According to him, women are not slaves to men, and so they need to be treated with care and respect.

The LNP Chief called on Liberians to discourage some of the unnecessary demonstration in the country, which the LNP said usually deny others of their rights. LNP Chief Sudue stated, although it is their right to demonstrate, it should be done for a tangible cause.

Inspector General Sudue reminded that Liberians need to desist from all forms of electoral violence.

He reminded the youth that they are the future leaders of the country, adding that they should not allow themselves to be used by individuals to cause problem in the country.
