Civil Society Group Honors Afriland Bank’s Credit Manager

The Credit Manager of Afriland First Bank, Youssouf Barry, was on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 honored by the Transparency and Accountability International as the Outstanding Credit Manager of the Year, 2022.

   The program was held at the premise of the Fula Business Association, Front and Buchanan streets intersection, and graced by civil society actors and the media. Members of Tabital Pulaaku International- Liberia, a group headed by Barry, were also in attendance to witness the auspicious occasion.

    The Media Consultant to Barry, Sheikh Jalloh, made brief remarks and introduced members of the high table.

   Giving the overview of the program, the Executive Director of Transparency and Accountability International, Dax Elliott, said Barry was selected from a category of financial professionals due to his superb performance in the financial sector during the year under review.

   According to Elliott, their group has observed that Afriland Bank is among the leading banking institutions and a major competitor in the nation’s financial sector, which he said is largely attributed to the success of not only the President of the bank but also the Credit Manager, Youssouf Barry, who has smartly managed the finances of customers and wisely counseled the bank’s management as it relates to loan facilities.

    He said because Barry has been successful in ably handling the finances of customers, the Afriland Bank is gaining the requisite trust from the public and rapidly growing by the day.

    Elliott then called on a civil society executive, Maclean Renner, to certificate and gown Barry as their institution’s Most Outstanding Credit Manager of the Year, 2022.

   Responding to the honor, the Credit Manager of Afriland Bank, Youssouf Barry, expressed gratitude for the recognition and thanked the Transparency and Accountability International for the honor. He said the honor was not for him but for the Afriland First Bank, which has been providing quality financial services to the public.

   Barry underscored the importance of trust and credibility at the workplace, noting that it is because of his hard work and credibility yesterday that he is being honored today.

   Also speaking at the program, the President of the Civil Society Network of Liberia (NACSUL), Amos B.S. Kanneh, told the Transparency and Accountability International that it was no mistake in giving Barry the prestigious honor, as he is worth it and even bagged more international honors. He urged Barry to continue the good work in the interest of the public.

   The Secretary General of Tabital Pulaaku International-Liberia, Mohammed S. Bah, thanked the civil society group for the honor bestowed on Barry, and also thanked Barry for the good work done over the years.
