Dozens of women from across Monrovia and its environs trooped to Capitol Hill on Thursday, March 2, 2023 with various placards and banners in demand of justice for all those who died under mysterious circumstances across Liberia during the administration of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), headed by President George M. Weah.

The women groups stormed the ground of the Capitol Building under the umbrella of the Association of Female Lawyers in Liberia (AFELL). The Liberian women, dressed up in black, called on the National Legislature to seek justice over the death of all Liberians who were murdered or died mysteriously. The protesters, majority of whom were adults, were seen lying on the ground crying for justice and the protection of all human rights, especially women and women’s rights.

Some of the writings on the placards and banners read, “We Want Justice in the Death of Gifty Lama, Prince Cooper, Charloe Musu”, “Fix the System”, “Women Deserve Rights and Protection”, “We are Tired of Hearing about Mysterious Deaths”, “Your Stop Killing Innocent People”, “Liberians Need Freedom”.

The women groups, under the umbrella of the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), presented a petition to the Liberian Senate and the House of Representatives calling for speedy investigation into the mysterious death of Charloe Musu, daughter of former Chief Justice, Cllr. Glorious Musu Scott.

The petition, which was read by Philimina Williams, also called on the National Legislature to stand up against all kinds of mysterious deaths across the country. The women were assured that the Legislature will quickly act on the petition and get back to them soon.
