The Lutheran Church in Liberia, in collaboration with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, is hosting the 2nd International African Lutheran Conference in Monrovia.
The Second International African Lutheran Conference is taking place at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on 14th Street, Sinkor. It is held under the theme, “Preach, Heal and Teach”. It started on April 22 and ends on April 27, 2023.
The main activities of the conference kicked off on April 24, 2023 by Bishop G. Victor Padmore, Bishop of the Lutheran Church In Liberia. He spoke shortly on the theme, “Preach the Word”.
Bishop Padmore said because Timothy, the son of Paul, was commanded to preach the Word anywhere as a servant of God, believers should preach the Word of God without fear or favor.
The 2nd International African Lutheran Conference is being well attended by high-level delegates from the Evangelical Lutheran church of America (ELCA), including Rev. Bishop Patricia Devenport, Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod; Rev. Dr. Joseph Bocko, Program Director, African International Ministries Evangelical Lutheran Church of America; Rev. Lamont Wells, President, African Descent Lutheran Association, Director, Lutheran University and College; Rev. Dr. Philip Hirsch, Executive Director, Domestic Mission Christian Community and Leadership; Rev. Dr. Moses Penamaka, President, Asian Association of Pacific Islanders; Rev. Derrick Rice, Director, Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta; Rev. Dr. Craig Miller, Bishop, Upper Susquehanna Synod, among other top clergymen from abroad and Liberia. The delegates are here to learn from the Lutheran Church in Liberia experiences and challenges as one of their key partners in ministry.
This International African Lutheran Church Conference is taking place in Liberia for the first time. It brings many ideas to church ministry leadership, and is meant to foster unity among member countries.
